Journal Entry #31 – Halloween Festivities

Ah, Halloween is tomorrow. Mine will be pretty quiet, honestly, with plans to bring my mom to one of her physical therapy appointments and perhaps going to eat out together afterwards. But there is a wonderful crispness in the air that is restful, and memories of loved ones have been on my mind even more than usual around this period.

Has anyone enjoyed some special festivities, such as hayrides, a corn maze, pumpkin carving, etc. to celebrate this spooky occasion?

  1. I hope you had a nice meal out with your mom.

I stayed in with my husband and watched Halloween episodes and also the NYC Halloween parades live. The parades were really fun, and I find myself hoping they all had a good time with no tragic events. It was a really impressive loose-but-controlled organization of flow. So many different looks happening with all the costumes. I’ll credit SuperFriends NYC for providing that opportunity!

    1. Thanks, it was indeed a lovely meal, and I was surprised by just how many people were dressed up for Halloween. It was a lot of fun to be out and about on that occasion, but staying in to watch Halloween shows and televised parades also makes for a great celebration. Glad to hear you had a nice time, especially with the SuperFriends NYC. I hadn’t heard of them before. Cool!

  2. Nope. All calm here. You just reminded me of what I enjoyed doing a few years back – Chipotle used to have some sort of deal – come wearing a costume and you either got a free or discounted burrito (don’t remember). I enjoyed going so that I could see all the different costumes. Of course, some people were dressed regularly and just made up randomly what they were. The following year I think the staff didn’t even ask – they just gave out the food. It was still fun to see all the different costumes.

    1. Ah, sounds like a wonderful occasion. It’s awesome that Chipotle did that to celebrate Halloween and help everyone to have a good time while there. I think we could all use that type of lighthearted festivity. ^_^ Do you know if they are still doing that?

      1. I had no clue as I forgot about it until it was too late. Apparently, they continued the tradition, but the event wasn’t as popular as in the past, as the prices have gone up. (You paid $3 in 2017 while this year you had to shell out $6 for a burrito. It’s still cheaper than on any other day, though.)
